IPAQ to GPS Serial Cable

The iPAQ GPS cable has a connector on one end that plugs into the bottom of iPAQ (21xx, 22xx, 38xx, 39xx, 41xx, 43xx, 54xx, and 55xx series). The plug includes a cigarette adapter. The other end of the cable is a male, serial port. This is designed to plug into a GPS "PC Cable" that has a female serial plug that is available with virtually all GPS receivers.
Dell Axim to GPS Serial Cable

This cable will connect the bottom port of the Dell Axim to the female DB9 RS232 serial connection from the GPS Receiver. This cable will only work with the Dell Axim X-5, X-50 series.
JD Starfire Serial Cable
The Starfire Serial cable goes from the bottom of the Starfire GPS antenna and comes out with a serial plug. The serial end can be plugged into the serial port of a laptop or desktop computer so it can communicate with the Starfire GPS receiver. To use the Starfire with an HP iPAQ Pocket PC, you will need the Starfire Serial Cable along with an iPAQ to GPS Serial Cable.
Interface Box
The Interface Box allows users to connect to boom sense lines so Site Mate and/or Guide Mate will only log data when the booms are turned on. The Interface Box can work with any GPS receiver that has a serial port output cable and outputs NMEA0183 data. The Interface Box has 3 ports on it;

* GPS Port that the GPS serial port plugs into,
* iPAQ port that goes to the computer or Pocket PC
* Lightbar Port that allows GuideMate to communicate to an external Raven lightbar through the Interface Box

The Interface Box will reduce a 12-volt input to a 5-volt trickle charge to the iPAQ. This helps the iPAQ to "maintain" power during its use. It is still recommended that users completely charge the iPAQ's battery every 3 days or so. If the Interface Box is used with a Raven GPS, the Box will get power from the GPS. If the Interface Box is used with another GPS, the red and black wires can be used to provide power.

THE INTERFACE BOX COMES WITH YOUR CHOISE OF ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CABLES:

Interface Box direct to iPAQ Cable - This cable goes from the Interface Box directly to the iPAQ. This cable is designed for users who will not be using a mount with a serial port. The cable plugs directly into the bottom com port of the iPAQ. This will work with the 2100/2200/3800/3900/5400 series of iPAQs. The cable will supply power to the iPAQ (taking power from the Interface Box). Note that this is not the same as a normal iPAQ to GPS Cable and it must be used with the Interface Box (if you plug a GPS receiver directly into the serial end of this cable, it will not communicate with the iPAQ).

Interface Box to OtterBox - This cable goes from the Interface Box into the serial port on the OtterBox. The cable includes a power cable that plugs into the power jack of the OtterBox to supply power to the iPAQ through the OtterBox. Note that this cable is not a standard Null Modem cable.

Interface Box to Other Serial Port - This cable goes from the Interface Box into the serial port on a device such as a:
Powered RAM Mount
Any Mount with a Serial Port
Laptop Computer
Serial I/O Card
There is no power output with this cable. Note that this cable is not a Null Modem cable.

Additional cables can be purchased if the Interface Box will be used with more than one type of device (such as using with an iPAQ and a laptop computer).
Ruggedized CF Serial I/O Card
This Compact Flash size card adds a fast serial COM port for attaching modems, bar code scanners, mag stripe readers, GPS receivers, digital cameras or other RS-232 serial devices to a Pocket PC device with a Compact Flash CF slot. This item is great for attaching variable rate controllers to a pocket pc.
